Inside Headstream with Nindy Noto
We had breakfast with Nindy Noto, host of Kukuruyuk, a morning online radio show on Headstream by Potato Head Bali. Broadcasting live from the studio every weekday, guiding listeners through a set of music as they begin their day. We asked her all about her music and her creative process:
Tell us a little about yourself and what you do...
I’ve been doing the show for almost a year now and prior to this, I was a music, arts and cultural events organizer for nearly a decade. I also have Sonic Selections, a music curation service for businesses that I started a few years ago. The Find was actually my very first client!
Music is one of the greatest loves of my life. I grew up in a musical household and also played the piano, clarinet and cello. That’s where my love for it roots from. Nowadays, my music taste includes a wide spectrum of genres. I love it all.
How did you become a headstream host?
In January of last year, I began the Sonic Selections radio show on NAPS Digital, a community radio station that was based in Kedungu, and a few months later I was invited to host on Headstream. I had no prior experience hosting before I started on NAPS but I'm a music nerd at heart and can talk about it for hours, so to be able to share my love for it on a radio platform brings me so much joy.

What is your creative process when you create a set list?
The creative process includes hours of digging for music for each show, also because I play an array of genres. On Monday’s, I typically play Ambient; Tuesday’s are Indie & Alternative Electronic sounds; Wednesday’s are upbeat; Thursday’s are reserved for Hip Hop and R&B; and Friday’s are for Soul, and World Music occasionally as of late. I like to mix new releases with older ones in each set. Overall, I feel that the tracks I choose should flow nicely throughout the show.
What advice would you give to young aspiring music enthusiasts to chase their dream?
Water your passion consistently because it takes time for things to grow. Share your passion with others. Be open to opportunities that fall into your path; even if you don’t think you can do it at first, give it a try. You might not be successful when you try something new but outside of your comfort zone is where growth happens.

How would you describe your personal style?
Feeling comfortable in what I’m wearing is key for me and I like to wear clothing and jewelry that are timeless. At times, I can dress quite masculine and other times very feminine. I mostly wear earth tones but will wear bold colors and patterns when in the mood. My uniform at Headstream is a graphic tee paired with wide legged pants.
I also have an appreciation for clothes that are plant dyed, and for small, Indonesian brands who I like to support. Oh, and I love anything silk. It feels amazing to wear on the skin.
